Mammea Americana is a fruit native to the Antilles. It is better known under the name of country apricot given to it by Father Labat, although it is Mamey in Spanish and mammee in English and German. It also appeared under the name "Mamé" in the Larousse encyclopedia of the early 20th century. It is low in calories but rich in carotene, magnesium, potassium and vitamins B6, B9 and A. Ideal for a healthy and balanced diet.
